Glass folds

Glass folds

These glass vessels were blown into moulds made by folding sheets of paper. When the two materials come into contact, the paper burns due to the extreme heat of the molten glass (approx. 900°C). When it has been totally consumed, the only thing left of it is its shape, which has been instantly transferred onto the vessel. The glass keeps a memory of its folds and creases: sometimes, you find out that part of the mould was crumpled during the process. Accidents and chance help generate the unique shapes obtained in this manner.
